2019 Royal Court announced; Opportunities to join Krewe of M.A.C. available

The Krewe of M.A.C. (Making A Change) 2019 Mardi Gras Royal Court includes Dexter McCoil (King), Natalie Robottom (Queen), Danielle Joseph (Grand Marshal), Ali Burl (Duke), Senecca Boudreaux (Duchess), Tevares Bush Sr. (East Bank Ambassador) and Michelle Octave (West Bank Ambassador).

Students from Lutcher High School and West St. John High School will serve as the East Bank and West Bank Prince/Princess.

The Bosshogg Brothers will serve as the “Big Shot” Organization and be awarded the 2019 Krewe of M.A.C. “Making A Difference” Community Service Award.

The Krewe of. M.A.C. selected individuals and organizations that gave of themselves in service and good deeds to serve as the 2019 Royal Court.

The Royal Court will be introduced Feb. 23 at the third annual Krewe of M.A.C. Mardi Gras on the River Ball at the St. John Community Center in LaPlace, hosted by Uptown Angela of radio station Q93.

The entire River Region and surrounding areas are invited to the 2019 Mardi Gras Day Parade at 2 p.m. March 5. This year’s theme is “Disney on the River.”

Parade packets can be downloaded from the website or picked up from any M.A.C. member.

The 2019 parade will feature floats from the Krewe of Comogo.

The Krewe of M.A.C. will host a community informational meeting 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the St. James Parish Library in Lutcher.

The Krewe of M.A.C. is also hosting the second annual Historians of Color Reception and Brunch to honor local heroes of all ages throughout St. James Parish and the River Region, publicly recognizing the contributions local historians of color have made to the community.

The event, free to the public with food provided, will take place Feb. 9 at a location yet to be decided.

The Krewe of M.A.C. was founded in 2016 by a group of St. James Parish residents to promote good fellowship, contribute to civic good, encourage charity, and keep alive the great spirit of Mardi Gras in St. James Parish and the River Region.

The mission is to uplift the community through engagement endeavors to make a difference in the lives of local youth.

The Krewe of M.A.C. will be hosting a “Back 2 School” School Supply Giveaway and awarding scholarships to graduating seniors throughout the River Region who will be attending a college or technical school.
