Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes is celebrating one year of providing high quality healthcare to the community in and around St. John the Baptist Parish. Since opening in August 2017, the 20,000 square foot medical complex has significantly expanded access to healthcare services in the community.
Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes employs 88 physicians, nurses and staff, including 30 from the facility’s comprehensive emergency department.
“Ochsner is dedicated to the wellbeing of the River Parishes. We are proud to provide the most up-to-date, high-quality care, in a modern setting,” said Stephen Robinson Jr., chief executive officer, Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner. “Our team is proud to have served thousands of residents in our first year and will continue working to expand access to quality healthcare for this community.”
The medical complex houses a 24-hour, 7-days a week emergency department with 13 private beds, an onsite laboratory and radiology services that utilize the latest technologies.
The overall design and layout of the space enables the medical team onsite to better handle trauma patients, triaging patients in need of the most immediate care. Additionally, special areas within the facility were specifically designed for the needs of the area’s local biochemical industry.
The center is also home to a robust outpatient department, which offers a level of comprehensive diagnostic imaging unmatched in St. John the Baptist Parish. Imaging services include digital x-ray rooms, MRI scans, cardiac diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, ultrasounds, bone density scans and 2D/3D mammograms. Recently, the facility began offering Screening Mammograms and outpatient lab services on Saturdays, as an added convenience to patients.
The state-of-the-art facility near Tiffany Drive and Airline Highway in LaPlace is part of a $30 million investment and three-year commitment by Ochsner Health System to St. John the Baptist Parish.
“We are here for the community and look forward to continuing to bring more resources and specialties to these residents in coming years,” continued Robinson.
Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes connects the River Parishes to the entire Ochsner Health System network of facilities and physicians through Epic – Ochsner’s integrated electronic health record system, which enables Ochsner physicians to securely share patient information, resulting in a higher level of coordinated care across the system. Patients can also access test results and schedule appointments online through personalized MyOchsner accounts.
