RESERVE — Several officers with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office attended an appreciation program Sept. 11 at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve, where they were honored as first responders.

Officers as well as St. John firefighters and staff and residents of the home also took a moment to pay tribute to the fallen heroes of the 9/11 terrorists attacks.

Father John Lambert, master of ceremony, shared one of his favorite Bible passages — Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends —- as he reflected on the dedication, service, and sacrifice of first responders.

At the end of the program, each first responder was presented an appreciation certificate.
