LAPLACE — Golfers from across the River Parishes and beyond are set to tee off Oct. 19 at Belle Terre Country Club, 111 Fairway Drive in LaPlace, as part of the River Region Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Golf Tournament.

The organization’s 2018 fall signature event features numerous food tents, as well as gifts and prize opportunities, including hole-in-one, closest-to-the-hole and longest drive contests.

Those wishing to participate may register teams in advance by calling 985-359-9777. Available tee times are 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. On-site registration begins an hour prior to scheduled tee times.

Chamber leadership touted the benefits of participating and encouraged the business community to participate.

“Not only is the Chamber Golf Tournament a lot of fun, it’s also a great way for attendees to network and promote their companies to stakeholders in our tri-parish area,” River Region Chamber of Commerce Chair and Louisiana Federal Credit Union Business Development Manager Kim B. Bourgeois said. “We’re proud of the community involvement we see with this event and want to expand on that.”

Proceeds from the tournament will be used in part to support the Chamber’s workforce development initiatives.

The Chamber is active in connecting industry, contractors and suppliers, hospitality, healthcare, education and other fields to ensure workers remain marketable for the current and future job market.

“As a support organization for the business community, the Chamber is committed to improving outcomes for both employers and employees,” River Region Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chassity McComack said. “We want to provide a link between the needs of both groups to continue to grow our economy and quality of life.”
