VACHERIE — The near head-on collision of a minivan and motorcycle cost one motorist his life Wednesday morning in St. James Parish, police said.
According to Louisiana State Police, 35-year-old Brent Molaison of Thibodaux was driving south in a Pontiac Montana in the left turning lane of Louisiana 3127 when he began turning left onto Louisiana 3213.
At the same time, 39-year-old Jason Lee was traveling north on Louisiana 3127 on a Honda motorcycle.
Lee struck the passenger side of Molaison’s vehicle and was ejected from his motorcycle, State Police said, suffering fatal injuries during the process.
According to State Police, charges are pending because Molaison was at fault due to his failure to yield before the crash.
The St. James Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Lee, of Pearl River, deceased on the scene.
Police said Molaison was wearing a seat belt and sustained moderate injuries. Acadian Ambulance Service took him to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Impairment is unknown, and authorities said a standard toxicology report is pending on the part of Lee through the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office.
Molaison submitted a blood sample for drug and alcohol testing and the results are pending through the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
