RESERVE — Riverside Academy head coach Kevin Dizer said the Rebels are heading into a 7 p.m. Friday jamboree against South Lafourche without expectations.

As long as the team shows up on time at Thibodaux High School in uniform and in position to play, Dizer said they will have accomplished the preparation needed to face Southern Lab in Week 1 of the regular season.

The Rebels are smaller in numbers than last year but not short on talent, he said.

“I’m not looking to build off of anything in the jamboree because it’s just a dress rehearsal,” Dizer said.

“I saw everything I needed to see when we scrimmaged Avondale last Friday. We just need to make sure we’re organized on offense and defense, and we can be a really good football team. We’re heading in the right direction.”
