3 die in head-on collision

JEFFERSON PARISH — Two River Region residents were killed Tuesday, victims in a deadly and violent morning crash in Jefferson Parish, authorities said.
According to Louisiana State Police, 19-year-old Scott Garcie of Luling was traveling “at a very high rate of speed” on U.S. 90 east when he lost control of a Porsche 911 Carrera and traveled into the left westbound lane.
The Porsche struck a GMC Penske box truck head-on and killed the driver of the truck, driven by 40-year-old Henry Aucoin of New Orleans. The passenger in the Porsche, 54-year-old Elroy Lauman of Luling, and Garcie were also killed as a result of the crash, authorities said.
Impairment is unknown, and toxicology tests will be performed during the autopsy.
Police said the collision took place shortly after 9 a.m. at milepost 239 (5000 block).
