Letter: Protect Children’s Health Program

On Thursday/June 7 the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution called to end Unnecessary Spending.
Sounds legitimate on the surface but one of the items included in the resolution is to cancel $7 billion from the children’s health program known as CHIP.
The White House, under Trump’s direction, requested this bill by stating it would cancel wasteful spending and House Republicans passed this in an effort to claim fiscal responsibility after passing their sham tax cut which put an increase in the deficit.
If you heard anything from Congressman Garret Graves in regard to HR 3 I’m going to assume he neglected to mention the negative impact on CHIP and only touted the benefit of cutting the “unnecessary spending” in DC.
In the end the vote on this resolution went straight down party lines and Mr. Graves voted yes. This will now go to the U.S. Senate for a vote. If you believe healthcare is in fact necessary for at risk children, as do I, tell Senators Cassidy and Kennedy you believe they should vote against sr3 and protect the Children’s Health Program.
