RESERVE — A Dollar General employee frantically fleeing for her life was shot multiple times Tuesday night in Reserve, as police said two would-be robbers unloaded gunfire on her vehicle as she was escaping a stick-up.

The violence, which St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators said took place at approximately 11 p.m., resulted in a 46-year-old female suffering gunshot wounds to the knee and hand and additional head injuries from a subsequent vehicle crash.

Police said two men wearing dark clothes and white masks approached the employee as she exited Dollar General on West Airline Highway and entered her car.

The assailants demanded she get out of the vehicle and re-enter the store.

When she refused and attempted to drive away, the suspects began shooting, police said.

“As she was attempting to drive away from the suspects, she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a culvert,” a Sheriff’s Office release says. “The suspects then fled the scene on foot.”

Emergency medical services arrived and administered aid to the victim, who was taken to University Hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition.

Police said a second employee entered her vehicle and drove off in an attempt to escape, only to be shot at, as well, by the assailants. The second employee crashed her vehicle, also, and police said she then fled the scene on foot.

Through investigation, detectives developed Glenn Lee Jr., 19, of Reserve and Antone Henderson, 20, of LaPlace as suspects, and each was arrested Wednesday, charged with attempted armed robbery and attempted first degree murder.
