PARADIS — A St. Charles Parish man shot his son to death and wounded his wife, the violence coming to an end Sunday only after the family’s 9-year-old girl escaped and alerted neighbors of the danger, police said.
St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne said Ed Raymond Veillon Jr. has been arrested for first degree murder and attempted first degree murder following his department’s investigation into the Paradis shooting.
Sheriff’s Office deputies responded shortly after 6 p.m. at 136 Lynn Drive in Paradis, locating 15-year-old Seth Veillon on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Deputies and EMTs attempted life-saving measures to no avail,” Champagne said.
Deputies also found Nicole Veillon, 43, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying on the floor.
Nicole was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition Monday.
Police said the Veillons’ 9-year-old daughter fled the home during the shooting and is unharmed.
Police arrested Ed Veillon at the scene, taking him to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury, for which he was treated and released while remaining in the custody of deputies. His bond is set at $500,000.
The investigation is active. Those with information on the shooting are asked to contact Detective Jenni Barrette by calling 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
