While following up on the initial crash, the investigating Trooper noticed Joey and Angela Gaudet’s injuries were not consistent with the seating positions he was given.

During the course of the investigation, evidence and witness statements confirmed, according to State Police, that Angela was the driver.

Toxicology results also confirmed Angela was impaired at the time of the crash.

Angela Gaudet was booked into the Ascension Parish jail for vehicular homicide, 10 counts of vehicular negligent injuring, aggravated obstruction of a Highway of Commerce, obstruction of justice, driving under suspension, no inspection sticker and four counts of no child restraints.

Police believe an impaired Angela Gaudet was traveling eastbound on Louisiana 621 and attempted to make a left turn onto Mire Road, striking Benjamin Teekell’s vehicle head-on in the process.

Addisyn Teekell was properly restrained at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries. She was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
