RESERVE — Under the direction of Darryl P. Clement, seventh through twelfth graders in Riverside Academy’s RA Ovations Drama Club are traveling back in time to the 1960s with a high energy performance of classic musical Bye Bye Birdie.

The show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. daily Tuesday through Thursday at St. John Theatre, located at 115 W. Fourth St. in Reserve. Tickets are $12 when ordered in advance and $15 at the door. Ticket forms can be accessed online at riversideacademy.com/forms-handouts/ and returned to Riverside Academy with payment.

Inspired by Elvis Presley’s stint in the U.S. Army, Bye Bye Birdie tells the story of fictitious rock star Conrad Birdie as he bids farewell during his last televised performance prior to being drafted. Along the way, Birdie chooses All-American girl Kim McAfee for a very public goodbye kiss.

The musical features a high energy 1960s score including hit songs “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Kids!” and “Rosie.”

Kaleb Waguespack, Patricia Bell, Jerrett Romagor, Jenna Beber, Matthew Beber, Tyler Palermo, Anna DiMaggio, Elainey Heltz, Bryce Duhon, Casey Noyes, Chloe Trosclair, Rajan Awasthi, Andy DiMaggio, Sonya Mazella, Coran Johnson, Matthew Tregre and Victoria St. Martin comprise the main cast.
