LAPLACE — The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a replacement blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 19 in the parking lot of the Percy Hebert Building, 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace, with The Blood Center Bloodmobile on site.

Deputy Benjamin Teekell, who works in the SJSO’s Special Operations/K9 Division, was involved in a vehicle crash in Ascension Parish on April 6 that took the life of his 5-year-old daughter, Addisyn.

Deputy Teekell and his 8-year-old daughter, Ashtyn, also were treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

To schedule a donation time, visit www.tbcdonors.org.

For every unit of blood collected, The Blood Center will make a monetary donation to the Teekell family to help financially with medical expenses.

The SJSO also has opened a fund for the family at Regions Bank. Anyone may make a donation at any Regions Bank in the name of the fund — “TEEKELL FAMILY BENEFIT ACCOUNT.”
