LUTCHER — St. James Urology Clinic — a department of St. James Parish Hospital — is extremely excited to announce the addition of Lithotripsy to its growing service line.
Lithotripsy is a noninvasive technique for treating kidney stones in which ultrasound shock waves are passed through the body. An ultrasound is first used to pinpoint the location of stones followed by the procedure that breaks stones into tiny granules, which can be passed through urine.
Patients with kidney stones are typically relieved of extreme pain and compared to surgery, complications and recovery time are reduced.
Dr. Clay Boyd, Urologist at St. James Urology Clinic, has been looking forward to helping patients through Lithotripsy since joining the hospital family.
In addition to Lithotripsy, Boyd provides general urology services such as cancer screening and surveillance exams, endoscopies, treatment of urinary infections, urolithiasis management, no-scalpel vasectomies and evaluation of sexual dysfunction.
Boyd sees patients in the medical plaza conveniently located on the same campus as St. James Parish Hospital. He is available for outpatient appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
He will schedule Lithotripsy procedures at the hospital on Fridays. To schedule an appointment, call 225-258-2070.
