LAPLACE — A LaPlace pizza deliveryman was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend, police said.

According to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, a 63-year-old victim was making a pizza delivery at Sunnyside Drive and Natchez Lane at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday when an unknown man robbed him at gunpoint

The victim said the perpetrator approached after he exited his truck with the pizza order, explaining the person who ordered the pizza just left the residence and he would accept the order.

The perpetrator then pointed a pistol at the victim, told him to empty his pockets and demanded money. After the victim complied with the demands, the gunman fled on foot with the pizza order, cash from the victim’s wallet and the victim’s iPhone.

Authorities said the delivery driver was uninjured, and police described the gunman as having a dark complexion, about 6-foot tall and wearing a green hoodie and blue jeans with a spot on the jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
