LaPlace 6th grader advances to national spelling bee

LaPlace Elementary School sixth grader Thomas Gross III reigned supreme Saturday at the 30th annual spelling bee at Xavier University, earning a win with the word “tritium” and securing a spot in the 91st Scripps National Spelling Bee, scheduled for May 29-31 in Washington, D.C.
