RESERVE — A local man on probation for his role in a Reserve convenience store break-in was arrested at the same location this week, charged with trespassing.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Morris Brown Jr. was arrested Monday when officers found him sleeping in a car he did not own.

Deputies responded to Saints Express on West Airline Highway in Reserve in reference to a vehicle burglary and discovered a male subject, identified as Brown, inside an employee’s vehicle parked outside the business.

The vehicle’s doors were secured, and entry into the vehicle was made through a broken back window, police said.

Brown was charged with criminal trespass – immovable property and held in lieu of a $500 bond.

Brown’s arrest this week follows his Feb. 7 guilty plea in St. John Parish to accessory after the fact to simple burglary, where he was given a three-year deferred sentence and three years of active probation.

Brown was also ordered to pay $1,365 in fines and fees.

That plea followed an Oct. 2 break-in which took place at Saints Express, when the convenience store was illegally entered and burglarized of an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, three magazines, a carrying case, 70 cigarette cartons, five refurbished iPhones, approximately 75 pieces of costume jewelry and an undisclosed amount of coins.
