Surrounded by her loving family at Ochsner Main Campus on Jefferson Highway, Sara Lee Shuford Glidden, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 29, 2018.

She was a native of Louisiana, Missouri and a resident of LaPlace for 34 years.

Sara was the loving wife to her husband of 53 years, Harry Glidden Jr.; mother of Brent (Kendra) Glidden and the late Neil (Jennifer) Glidden; devoted grandmother of Ashleigh (Justin) Tumminello, Alexzander (Kaitlyn) Glidden, Austin Glidden, Devin Collins and Victoria Glidden; great grandmother of Teagan Glidden; sister to Betty Dolbeare (Raymond), Frances Koeller (Harry) and L. Donald Shuford (Jean); and aunt to several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents John Oliver Shuford and Frances Elzea Shuford and brothers Lloyd Shuford (Jean), John Oliver Shuford Jr., E. Alexander Shuford (Leora), Kenneth Shuford (Betty) and Harold Shuford (Gisele).

Sara was a graduate of Louisiana (Missouri) High School and attended Northeast Missouri State College majoring in accounting.

Her accomplishments and hobbies included Honorary Life Member of the Texas Jaycee-ettes, former Treasurer of the River Forest Homeowners Association, a former member of the Krewe of Iris, a proud supporter of the Leukemia Foundation and member of the DuPont Wives Club and First United Methodist Worship Committee.

She was a bookkeeper by trade and retired from Brennan’s Printing and Direct Mail after 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, loved cruises and passing a good time with her family and friends.

Sara was also a hummingbird enthusiast, an avid gardener and a loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Sara’s family would like to thank all of those whom have expressed their condolences during this time of loss.

All are invited to attend a visitation in her honor to be held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Highwy in LaPlace on Monday, Feb. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m.

A memorial service will follow on Tuesday, Feb. 6, officiated by Reverend Regina Hickman at First United Methodist Church of LaPlace, located at 301 Bamboo Road in LaPlace at 10 a.m., with visitation beginning in church at 9 a.m.

A private burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose will be held at a later date.
