LAPLACE — St. John Sheriff’s Office Deputy Michael Duronslet recently accepted a $500 check for the St. John Sheriff’s Office body armor fund.

The check was delivered by Jada Brown, student council president at John L. Ory Communications Magnet School in LaPlace.

The Student Council recently sponsored Blue Day; for $2, students could wear a blue shirt and blue jeans to show support for law enforcement.

Duronslet thanked students for their donation and support. He talked about how the vests save officers from death or serious wounds, and students also had the opportunity to try on Duronslet’s vest.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the Body Armor Fund is asked to call 985-652-9513.
