Clyde Anthony Giroir Sr., 81, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Jan. 7 at 12:25 at Cannon Hospice in Jefferson with family by his side.

He was born Oct. 1, 1936, to the late Emzy Giroir and Flora V. Barrios of New Orleans.

Clyde was the second of three children. His oldest brother, Ronald Giroir, and sister Joy Ann Dazet Evanac, as well as his sister-in-law Susan Plaisance Peterson, all preceded him in death.

Clyde joined his wife Ivy Ann Plaisance. They were married 46 years. Together they raised their family in LaPlace.

Their children are Denise Pool and her husband Mark Pool, Michelle Giroir, Clyde Jr. and his wife Linda, and Nicole Giroir and her fiancée David Pfeifer Jr. Their many grandchildren are Bridget Giroir, Allie Giroir and her fiancée Frank Tarantino; Megan Johnson and her husband Hollis; Kirsti Bostick, Bailiegh Bostick, Claudia Pool and her fiancée Remington Schugart, Haylie Hickman, Madeline Pool and Gabrielle Guidry.

His great grandchildren are Chloe Lee Ann Johnson, Silas Johnson, Elijah Guidry, Melia and Maxston Tarantino.

He will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Christian Mauroner and his wife Valerie, Jason Mauroner, Brandon Peterson and their children; Great Aunt Lucy Dolores Le Blanc of Gretna, Maurice Plaisance Jr. and Frank Van Hoy of Gretna as well as many more.

Clyde served our country proudly in the Navy during the Korean War, he was a member of the LaPlace VFW post# 3337, worked many years at Freeport McMoran and retired to enjoy some years at Winn Dixie meeting and greeting friends.

Visitation is 9:45 to 11 a.m. Saturday/Jan. 13 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. Fifth St. in LaPlace, following by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. John Memorial Gardens, 2205 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.
