RESERVE — Due to continuing water pressure problems in St. John the Baptist Parish, all St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools will remain closed Friday (Jan. 5).

It will mark the second straight day Public Schools cancelled classes.

A release from the School District water pressure is inadequate to supply the heating systems on many campuses, which are operated through boiler systems, in addition to impacting restrooms and other facilities.

Parish officials anticipate the water pressure problems will be resolved once the weather warms this weekend.

Maintenance employees, head custodians at all schools and all Lake Pontchartrain Elementary staff are asked to report to work as scheduled.

St. Peter School is open Friday after consultation with the Office of Catholic Schools and the Archdiocese of New Orleans. However, bus services will not be offered. All school-based activities, including before and after care, lunch and extra-curricular activities will be available.

No bus service is available for St. Joan of Arc Friday, though the school will be open. Lunch is gumbo only.
St. Charles Catholic remains open.
As previously scheduled, Riverside Academy will remain closed.
Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School will open without bus service.
