LaPlace woman killed in Alabama crash

CONECUH COUNTY, Ala. — A local woman was killed last week following a double-fatality wreck in Alabama, authorities said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at 4:14 p.m. Thursday, claiming the life of Ama’s Stanley Stewart Jr., 24, and LaPlace’s Zena S. Moore, 23.

Moore was a passenger in a Nissan 350Z Stewart was driving, which collided with a 2006 Freightliner.

Stewart and Moore, who were not using seat belts, were pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the Freightliner, Jimmie Calloway of River Falls, Ala., was injured and taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

The crash occurred on Interstate 65, 17 miles south of Evergreen.

Alabama State Troopers announced they were still investigating the crash.
