St. John celebrates Blue Mass

Several officers with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office joined parish firefighters, military personnel, veterans and other first responders for a Blue Mass Nov. 14 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace.

Students from Ascension of Our Lord and St. Peter schools joined SJA students in showing appreciation to first responders for their service.

Father Walter Austin of AOL, the celebrant for the Mass, told the congregation he is grateful to first responders for their perseverance and dedication to their jobs.

The Rev. Patrick E. Collum of SJA, the concelebrant for the Mass, said St. Joan of Arc Church was proud to host the Blue Mass to honor the men and women who give their lives in faithful service to the community.
