Blessed to be a Blessing distributed 500 meals, along with 40 volunteers from Cargill and the District Attorney’s office Nov. 18 at East St. John High School. This is the second year Cargill and the D.A.’s office sponsored this event. Councilman Lennix Madere Jr. also volunteered. Organizers assisted local families and senior citizens for the holiday with a full, healthy meal. Turkeys, dirty rice, peas, jams, cranberry sauce, apple pie, drinks and macaroni and cheese were given to all 500 families.
