LAPLACE — Woodland Bridge will be closed for repairs in the upcoming months due to its deteriorating condition as part of the Woodland/Fairway Drive Bridge Repair Project.

St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom announced her office received authorization from the Parish Council to execute a six-month time extension for a contract with Principal Engineering.

Once plans for an alternate route to the Waste Water Treatment Plant are finalized and the design is completed, a construction contract for repairs will be solicited.

“The Woodland Bridge will be the fourth bridge repair completed in the last several years, along with Fairway Dr., Country Club Dr. and Greenwood Dr.,” Robottom said.

The Council also authorized a year contract for Code Enforcement Inspector Ronald D. Comminie for 20 hours a week to investigate and respond to possible Parish code violations.

Residents can file complaints online at sjbparish.com or by calling the office at 985-651-5565 and an inspection will be completed and violation issued if warranted.

In other business, a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) was approved with St. James Parish, the Town of Gramercy, Town of Lutcher, River Parishes Tourist Commission and the Festival of the Bonfires, Inc. to allow for St. John’s participation in the Festival of the Bonfires.

The Public Safety Department will issue permits for bonfires on the East and West Banks of the Parish, November 15, 2017 through December 9, 2017, during normal business hours at the Emergency Operations Center located at 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.
