KENNER — A disturbance that started with young children during a football game ended with a LaPlace man behind bars, arrested for shooting a teenager, police said.

Kenner Police Officers responded to the shooting outside the Malcolm Kenner Apartments at 4:18 p.m. Sunday, learning an altercation within the complex that included gunshots had left a nineteen-year-old male struck in the leg.

The victim was transported to Ochsner Main Campus, where he was treated and released.

Witnesses said a disturbance involving young children playing football escalated into a fight involving some adults.

Police said Reginald Tezeno, 41, of LaPlace, produced a handgun, which he pointed at another and fired.

“The projectile ricocheted off the ground and struck the 19-year-old in the leg, who was not the intended target,” a release from Kenner police said. “Tezeno was found inside an apartment within the complex and taken into custody.”

Tezeno is charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm. He posted a $60,000 bond and has been released.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Detective Mike Jackson at 504-712-2283 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
