Julia Braud Rezach

Julia Braud Rezach departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017.

She was 92, a native of Gonzales and a lifelong resident of LaPlace.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward “Eddie” E. Rezach Sr.; mother of Edward “Pedro” Hotard and Bobby “White Bean” Hotard (Barbara); daughter of the late Sidney and Elaine Braud; sister of James Breaux (Betty), Doris Becnel and the late Paul “Junior” Braud, Kermit Breaux and Ruth “Mary” Braud; and grandmother of Tammy Hotard, Marshall Simon, Rechelle Hotard, Kelly Hotard, Jayme Hotard (Melissa), Jaclyn S. Hotard, Marcie Millet and Matthew Blanchard.

She is also survived by great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extraordinary friends.

She was a graduate of Leon Godchaux High School and a devoted employee of Roussel’s Restaurant in LaPlace for 48 years.

Julia was affectionately known for her sweet spirit and her warm, welcoming soul. A long-time resident of Milesville, Julia could often be found in her vegetable garden or putting on a pot of coffee for a guest who had just stopped in to visit.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1900 Greenwood Drive in LaPlace, on Monday, Nov. 6 at 4:30 p.m.

Visitation is from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 3445 N. Causeway Blvd., Suite 902 in Metairie.
