St. John storm surge warning ends, curfew lifted

LAPLACE — At approximately 10 p.m. Saturday, St. John the Baptist Parish officials announced the storm surge warning is no longer in effect and the Tropical Storm Warning would expire at 3 a.m. Sunday.
St. John Parish remains under a Coastal Flood Advisory until noon Sunday due to high tides and easterly winds.
The mandatory evacuation for areas north of I-55 (Manchac, Frenier and Peavine) has been lifted.
The shelter at Emily C. Watkins Schools is closing, no evacuations are in effect and the curfew has been cancelled.
Road Closures still in effect include Old Hwy 51 at Ruddock, Peavine Road and Frenier Road.
