- Oct. 1, 1981: Placing in the Ms. St. John Teen Pageant were, from left, Trina Carter, first runner-up and winner of the best talent in the creative performance category; Kim Pyles, Ms. St. John Teen who also won the best essay category; Yolanda Roussel, second runner-up, and Penny Vicknair, Ms. Positivity. Pyles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Andrews of LaPlace, received a pair of diamond earrings, a watch, an AM-FM digital clock radio and a $50 savings bond.
