VACHERIE — Magnolia Lodge #2 of Vacherie held its sixth annual back-to-school giveaway this month at First Baptist Church in Vacherie, serving hundreds of students.

Backpacks and school supplies were given out to more than 300 children in the St. James Parish Public School system.

In addition to school supplies, haircuts, hair braiding and styling were provided.

Hotdogs, chips, drinks and snowballs kept everyone filled and chilled, while video games entertained the children, organizers said.

Magnolia Lodge organizers said it was the best giveaway event they had sponsored.
