LAPLACE — A Metairie man was booked locally this week, charged with 15 felony counts of pornography involving juveniles.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, the charges against 53-year-old Gerard Faucheux are not new and refer to a case that originated in late 2015.
Sheriff’s Office detectives first obtained a court ordered arrest warrant for Faucheux for distribution of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 in December 2015.
At the time, Faucheux was being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on other charges related to the investigation, with Faucheux also booked as a fugitive from St. John Parish.
A St. John Sheriff’s Office detective, along with officers of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, initiated their investigation Nov. 9, 2015, into the distribution of pornography involving juveniles.
While working in an official undercover capacity, a St. John Sheriff’s Office detective downloaded more than 15 videos of child sexual abuse by way of a computer network, Sheriff Mike Tregre said at the time.
Over the course of the investigation, investigators identified Faucheux as a suspect.
Faucheux’s bond is set at $375,000.
