Court roundup: Local man pleads to theft charge

GONZALES — A local man avoided an extended stay in jail when his sentences for theft and fleeing capture were suspended, authorities said.

Darell Kelley, 24, of LaPlace pleaded guilty last week in Ascension Parish to theft of goods and aggravated flight from an officer.

According to the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Kelley was sentenced to five years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections and given credit for time served on each count. It was also ordered the imposed sentences run concurrent with one another and be suspended. Kelley was also ordered to serve three years supervised probation.

• In St. James Parish, Keynisha Tezeno, 25, of Lutcher pleaded guilty to forgery and was sentenced to two years with the Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on two years of supervised probation.
