RESERVE — A drug investigation and surveillance effort led to a raid this week that netted nine arrests, an illegal narcotics seizure and the rescue of numerous malnourished dogs.
St. John Sheriff’s Special Operations detectives executed the home search Tuesday evening in the 100 block of Ellen Street in Reserve, seizing marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and stolen firearms, a Sheriff’s Office release said.
The investigation began in January after authorities “received several anonymous complaints of drug activity taking place,” police said.
According to authorities, a makeshift recording studio in the garage behind the house was being operated.
“During the course of the investigation, detectives learned the identities of several main suspects who controlled the residence and makeshift studio,” the Sheriff Office said. “These individuals used the location as a drug distribution area and were known to carry firearms.”
Nine people were arrested during Tuesday’s search and three handguns were recovered, one of which was stolen.
More than $1,000 was also seized.
Police said four of the suspects “are convicted felons with lengthy arrest histories,” adding detectives rescued four dogs that were in poor health and needed treatment.
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are possible.
