LACOMBE — Louisiana State Police identified a LaPlace man Monday afternoon as the victim of a fatal wreck last week in St. Tammany Parish.

Authorities said Dale Joseph Lacour, 56, was riding his bicycle when he was killed Thursday evening in Lacombe.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 4:25 p.m. on U.S. 190 at the intersection of North Tranquility Road in St. Tammany Parish. The cyclist was killed as a result of the crash, and troopers initially withheld his identification pending notification of family.

Troopers said Lacour was riding a Huffy bicycle southbound on North Tranquility Road when he approached the intersection and “failed to stop at the stop sign” before crossing into the eastbound lane of U.S. 190, where he was struck by a Cadillac CTS driven by 60-year-old Pamela A. Mcginity of Lacombe.

Lacour was not wearing a helmet and sustained severe injuries. Acadian Air-Med took him to University Hospital, where doctors pronounced Lacour dead shortly after 6 p.m.

State Police said Mcginity was properly restrained and uninjured. Alcohol and drug use are not suspected for Mcginity.

Troopers did obtain blood samples, which were sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
