St. John motorists asked to stay off flooded streets

St. John the Baptist Parish Government said Saturday that St. John is experiencing street flooding parishwide due to highly saturated grounds and a large amount of rainfall in a short period of time.

Residents are asked not to drive down flooded streets and to stay off of roadways if possible.

Pumps are operating and at full capacity and drainage and utility systems are full, therefore additional rainfall will quickly lead to run off and additional street flooding, parish officials said.

The threat of rainfall remains high through Tuesday.

Residents should continue to monitor weather conditions and dial 911 to report issues and concerns. Parish crews are out working throughout St. John.
