EDGARD — The seventh grade girls at West St. John Elementary had a special treat for their promotional portraits on May 8.

A total of 15 seventh grade graduates were treated to professional makeup jobs for their promotional portraits.

Lischelle Jasmine, from Lischelle Cosmetics, did their makeup. Jasmine, a local makeup artist and beautician, was asked if she would volunteer her time and professional expertise for the girls.

“I was glad to give back to the community what I have accomplished,” Jasmine said.

This is her first year volunteering her time to the school. All the girls were excited and patiently waited their turns to get their makeup done, school officials said.

“I was excited to get my makeup done by Mrs. Lischelle,” seventh grader Devyion Jackson said. “I thought that my makeup looked beautiful.”

Je’Nya Ketchens was one of the first to finish her makeup. Her mother, Zelda Ketchens, said she was very pleased with how it turned out.

Lischelle Jasmine of Lischelle Cosmetics helped more than a dozen West St. John Elementary students put their best face forward by donating her time before the students’ promotional portraits.
