LAPLACE — Louisiana’s Strategic Adaptations for Future Environments is hosting a series of community meetings next month in St. John the Baptist Parish.

The smaller community meetings follow six parishwide meetings held in March and April that engaged nearly 500 residents in Plaquemines, Terrebonne, Jefferson, St. John, Lafourche and St. Tammany parishes.

The community meetings will allow residents to begin the process of designing specific parishwide adaptation strategies with at least one project, program or policy that would be funded through LA SAFE, a planning initiative coordinated by the Louisiana Office of Community Development’s Disaster Recovery Unit, in partnership with the Foundation for Louisiana’s Coastal Resilience Leverage Fund.

To gather resident input, an online engagement activity has also been launched and is available LASAFE.la.gov/engagement.

A meeting for Reserve, Garyville and LaPlace runs from 6 to 7:45 p.m. June 6 at Regala Gym, 200 Regala Park Road in Reserve.

A meeting for Pleasure Bend runs from 6 to 7:45 p.m. June 7 at Pleasure Bend Fire Station, 1200 Louisiana 643 in Vacherie.

A meeting for the Wallace and Edgard communities runs from 6 to 7:45 p.m. June 8 at the West St. John Elementary School cafeteria, 2555 Louisiana 18 in Edgard.
