KRAEMER — A River Parishes teenager was killed overnight during a violent single-vehicle wreck in Lafourche Parish, authorities said.
According to Trooper Jesse LaGrange of Louisiana State Police, 18-year-old Candace Reulet of Vacherie and 19-year-old Jaydon Labat of Thibodaux were pronounced dead on the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office.
The Troop C spokesperson said the single vehicle fatality crash took place on Louisiana 307 near Scotty J’s Arena Road in Kraemer shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
The preliminary investigation revealed Labat was driving south at a high rate of speed in a Dodge Challenger when the vehicle entered a left curve in the roadway when, for unknown reasons, it ran off of the road to the right and struck a utility pole.
Labat was ejected despite being properly restrained, LaGrange said, adding Reulet was not restrained and also ejected.
According to State Police, alcohol is a suspected factor and a standard toxicology test is pending on the part of Labat.
