LAPLACE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, St. John the Baptist Parish Government, Marathon Petroleum and others will join the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District is celebrating students who have maintained honor roll status throughout the school year from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at New Wine Christian Fellowship Gymnasium, 1929 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

More than 500 students will attend the event, which will be an open fair featuring inflatables, ping-pong, foosball, face painting, food and more.

Upon arrival, there will be a roll call and recognition of the teacher, student and principal of the year. A very special part of the day will be “Heroes Honoring Our Honor Roll Roundup Heroes,” where police officers and firefighters will present students with medals as they enter the celebration.

Students will also have the opportunity to play games with police officers and firefighters.
