St. John deputies complete Peace Officer Standards and Training program

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre announced 10 local officers were among 32 graduates of the Peace Officer Standards and Training program (POST) recently conducted at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Training Facility in Luling.

The 18-week program included training in firearms, physical fitness, Louisiana criminal and traffic law, writing reports, conducting interrogations and general investigative techniques.

The St. John officers were recognized as certified Peace Officers April 28 during the POST graduation at the facility.

Michael Whitcomb received the Top Shot Award for earning the besting shooting range score, the Best Driver Award for having the fastest time in the driving course, and the Salutatorian Award for having the second overall highest score in academics.

Brian Bartholomew won the Physical Fitness Award; and Mavis Kendrick received the Sheepdog Award for outstanding dedication, hard work and perseverance.
