LAPLACE — The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office stressed this week that deputies will begin aggressively ticketing drivers of all terrain vehicles on public roadways and the levee.
The ATVs will be towed when necessary, a release from the Sheriff’s Office said.
“The St. John Sheriff’s Office continues its crackdown on four-wheelers in neighborhoods, on roadways and on the levee on the East and West Banks of St. John Parish,” a warning says. “All terrain vehicles on public roadways, including the levee, is illegal.”
A task force has been formed to assist in the crackdown, the result of recent complaints the Sheriff’s Office has received from residents in reference to the illegal operation of all terrain vehicles in neighborhoods, on public roadways and on the levee.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to call 911 and report the names of drivers of these vehicles.
