St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre, Deputy Toni Flynn and Deputy Flynn’s mother, Marie Johnson, were recently recognized during the Louisiana State Legislature 2017 regular session in Baton Rouge.
Tregre, Flynn and Johnson met with state Rep. Greg Miller (R-Norco), who called on the House of Representatives Committee for its authorization to name the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office’s new indoor shooting range and training facility, for retired Sheriff Lloyd B. Johnson, who served as sheriff of St. John Parish for 20 years.
Tregre said Johnson’s leadership was renowned in the community, adding that naming the new facility after Johnson brings honor and recognition to his name for future generations.
The House of Repre-sentatives approved the request, and this legislation proceeds to the Senate next week.
If approved, the measure moves to Gov. John Bel Edwards for final approval.
