St. John corrections officer arrested

LAPLACE — A corrections officer in St. John the Baptist Parish was arrested Friday.
According to a release from the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, Taronda Mitchell was arrested for “providing sensitive classified information to a citizen.”

Mitchell had been a corrections officer for one year, authorities said.
She was booked with obstruction of justice and released from custody Friday after posting a $2,500 bond.
