LAPLACE — A disagreement between a LaPlace convenience store employee and customer devolved into a fist fight behind the business, the brandishing of a weapon, shots fired and one arrest.

Al Wilson, 24, of LaPlace, is being held under $30,000 bond for illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon following his arrest Sunday evening.

Police said Wilson was working at Min Hui Mart on Main Street at approximately 4 p.m. when a “verbal altercation” with a customer led to the two men moving outside the business for a fist fight that was witnessed by various others.

“Upon reviewing recorded video surveillance from the business and over the course of the investigation, officers observed Wilson … (pull) out a handgun and point it at the customer and the unknown subjects while consistently moving his arm, firing the gun at all of the subjects,” a release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

“All subjects then fled the area, running into nearby neighborhoods, and Wilson left the store in a black vehicle. No victims were located.”

Police said they located Wilson at a residence on West 2nd Street and arrested him.
