Joy Charlotte Kraus Pray

Joy Charlotte Kraus Pray went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 10, 2017, at the age of 72.

Joy was born in Columbia, Tenn., and was a resident of LaPlace for the past 35 years.

She attended Acadia Baptist Academy for high school then she went to Louisiana College to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was a devoted educator for over 30 years.
Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing, love and faith. Her signature gift of joy shown through her constant smiling, laughter and prayer will never be forgotten.
Married for 36 years, Joy and Frank raised their sons, Charles and Brian. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Joy faithfully cared for her family and friends.

Her love and constant prayer for all that she encountered will live on forever. She has shaped her families spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She enjoyed volunteering in any capacity in order to further God’s word.
Joy was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren. They were her everything.

She loved holidays and family gatherings; any chance to spend time with family was important to her.
She is survived by her her husband, Frank Pray; sons Charles and wife Brandy Pray, Brian and wife Angelle Pray; grandchildren Caine, Brianna, Patience, Gracie and Dawson Pray; and brother, Tommy Kraus.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Kraus; father, Reverend Charles Kraus; and beloved sister, Judy K. Morris.

Joy was an active member of First Baptist Church of LaPlace for the past 35 years. She was a member of Campers on Mission and Louisiana Disaster Relief.

Relatives, friends, members and co-workers of the School Board and former students are invited to attend the Funeral Service at First Baptist Church of LaPlace, 120 Ormond Blvd. in LaPlace, on Saturday, April 15 at 11 a.m.

Visitation will begin in church at 10 a.m.
