RESERVE — A vehicle plowed through an unoccupied Reserve reception hall Saturday morning, the result of a collision seconds earlier on Airline Highway, police said.

Bot’s Place, located at 2810 W. Airline Highway, was struck by a vehicle Saturday morning.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said Brandon Vortisch, 28, of Kenner was driving in the left lane heading south on West Airline Highway when he struck the vehicle in front of him at approximately 7:23 a.m. Saturday.

The driver of the impacted vehicle lost control and crashed into Bot’s Place, 2810 W. Airline Highway, coming to rest approximately four feet inside the building.

The building was unoccupied, authorities said.

The driver of vehicle No. 2, a 60-year-old woman from Reserve, was taken to an area hospital.

Vortisch was cited for careless operation and no proof of insurance.
