St. John hosting Town Halls on tax election

LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish Officials will host town hall meetings to discuss the April 29 election on a tax dedicated to the Westshore Lake Pontchartrain Levee Project and flood protection.
Residents parishwide are encouraged to attend the meetings to ask questions, discuss concerns and receive information on the election.
Town Hall Meetings:
• 6 p.m. Monday at the Edgard courthouse, 2393 Louisiana 18 in Edgard.
• 6 p.m. Tuesday April 4 at the St. John Community Center, 2900 U.S. 51 in LaPlace.
• 6 p.m. Wednesday at REGALA Gymnasium, 200 REGALA Park Road.
The West Shore Lake Pontchartrain Hurricane Risk Reduction Project received Congressional authorization to move forward, and Parish leaders said the proposed tax would fund the local match of levee construction and maintenance.
Election Day is April 29. Early voting is from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 15-22 at the Registrar of Voters Offices in LaPlace and Edgard.
