JLO students shine at Beta Convention

Some John L. Ory Communication Arts Magnet School students qualified to compete at the National Jr. Beta Convention. Rosie Bourgeois, fifth grade, placed first for Division I essay; Riley Smith, fourth grade, placed third for Division I jewelry design; and Erik Mender, fifth grade, placed second in Division I Math. The school’s Jr. Beta Club traveled to Lafayette to compete at District Day. The three winning students will compete at the National Convention in Orlando in June.
