It is with great honor, that I announce my candidacy for Louisiana State Senate District 2.

I am aware of the intricacies of the government and am willing to work with others and achieve what is best for the residents of District 2.

I, Jamie Roussell, am a resident of Mount Airy, Louisiana, and have lived in this district throughout the course of my life. My parents, Abbie and the late Junius Roussell Jr., have also been lifelong residents of this district.

Jamie Roussell

I am a graduate of East St. John High School. I later earned a bachelor’s in Political Science at Southern University of Baton Rouge, a master’s degree in American Politics at Louisiana State University and Plus 30 in Education from Nicholls State University.

As a teacher, principal, coach, and mentor, I have had the privilege of impacting children’s lives for over fifteen years, for they are the future of this district, the State of Louisiana and this great country called America.

As a resident and an employee of District 2, I am compelled to take action regarding the issues in our district. The objective of this journey is to be an advocate for the people and to “Put Louisianians First.” As an advocate, I plan to address the most important issues that affect the citizens of this district.

Education, workforce equality, job creation/infrastructure and support for small businesses, support for single parent families, flood protection and drainage improvements and support for Medicare/Medicaid, our veterans, police officers/firefighters, represent the foundation of the future success of our district. As a voice and prayerfully your senator, I thank you for your time and support. I urge you to make an informed decision based on the needs of our district on election day.
