LAPLACE — The community is invited to take part in the St. Joseph Altar Blessing a viewing at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church.

Those interested are welcome to attend in Piovan Hall by entering through the gate in the church parking lot, 1900 Greenwood Drive in LaPlace.

The viewing following the blessing runs until noon and reopens from 6 to 8 p.m. with Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m.

The viewing continues from noon to 5:30 p.m. (Mass at 4 p.m.) March 18.

The viewing continues again from 8 a.m. to noon March 19, St. Joseph’s Day, with Masses at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

This year’s altar is dedicated to parishioners that have been called home by the Lord.

All proceeds will be sent to the Saltillo, Mexico Missions in honor of departed founding pastor Fr. Benny Piovan.

The Knights of Columbus Council #9623 will serve a meatless meal following 10:30 a.m. Mass March 19. Donations for the meal will be given to local seminarians to assist with their needs.

Italian cookies, baked goods, wine, candles, medals, rosaries and holy cards are available for a donation.
